This bowl was crafted in Yamanaka by Gato Mikio, combining ancestral techniques of woodturning and lacquerware unique to this region. The wood is carefully chosen, sawn in a particular way to show vertical grains, hand carved and lacquered with very thin layers to respect the beauty of natural wood. The design is a serene combination of traditional, minimal and contemporary forms. This bowl can be used for soups, rice or any other dish. And it's wonderfully tactile!
